Adventurous Edinburgh is an evening to inspire you to go and find your next adventure.

Host Dan Bailey, editor of UKHillwalking.com and author, will speak to three Edinburgh-based adventurers with very different approaches and backgrounds about their experiences and inspiration. Listen to Geoff Allan, author of the Scottish Bothy Bible, Jenny Tough, who has ran the Tien Shan in Kyrgyzstan and cycled the Baltic Sea coast, and Markus Stitz, who cycled around the world on a singlespeed bike.

Dan Bailey (Host)
Dan is an outdoor writer, photographer, guidebook author and ukhillwalking.com editor. Dan likes long hill days, scrambles and classic punter's climbs both summer and winter. Dan's Route Cards feature on UKHillwalking.com - a diverse set of classic hill walks from all over the UK, with something to suit all tastes from half-day quickies to backpacking journeys; easy strolls to top-end scrambles; family-friendly Summer fun to gnarly Winter epics!

Geoff Allan
Way back in 2011 Geoff started his quest to publish a guidebook about Scottish bothies. His dream has become reality with publishing 'The Scottish Bothy Bible' in March 2017, the first ever complete guide to Scottish bothying. The book provides detailed descriptions of all the shelters maintained by the marvellous Mountain Bothy Association plus a few other lesser known gems, including route descriptions, historical snapshots, key attractions in the vicinity, and tips on hillcraft and staying safe. Geoff loves the bothy culture and beauty of bonnie Caledonia, and his book also showcases the spirit of bothying.

Jenny Tough
Jenny has travelled six continents solo. She has cycled around Europe, paddled through the South American jungle, ran marathons on four continents, hiked throughout Asia, trekked in Patagonia, dived with sharks, surfed in the North Sea, competed in numerous adventure races, and lived in five countries. She believes that everyone has the spirit of an explorer within them, and that adventures are constantly at our fingertips. While some of Jenny's adventures have been epic, year-long expeditions, others have been equally gruelling micro-adventures, only hours away from the comfort of home. Her goal in sharing those adventures is to inspire more individuals to go find their own adventure.

Markus Stitz
Markus is the founder of Bikepacking Scotland and a very active figure in the bikepacking scene. His latest adventure took him through 26 countries, cycling 34,000 km singlespeed around the world self-supported. He loves sharing his passion for bikepacking and has created a 240 km bikepacking loop around Edinburgh, the Capital Trail.
